Refurbished HERO7 Silver

Silver gopro hero7

See the user manual for a list of commands. This is my first GoPro, after reading all the negative reviews of the Hero 7 Black I went with the silver. Bought the camera as I've have a Hero 3 and wanted to upgrade. It's also fair to point out that the black has Time Lapse and Live Facebook streaming. The camera also benefits from vertical shooting, a new feature for the Hero7 range. The 4k quality SUCKS - the quality doesn't have that GoPro special brilliant look. The time-lapse feature is good fun, and you can opt to capture this in either 4K or at a lower resolution in conjunction with the Touch Zoom feature. Aimed at the more discerning image and video maker, its 1in sensor is considerably larger than those inside rival models, while its ZEISS-branded lens is a cut above the norm. Get a great camera at a great price. The Hero 7 Silver is perfectly suitable as an upgrade from older GoPro models — and if you have some older accessories — although it would be a fine choice for any first-time action cameras users that may feel limited by what the White version offers. The default is 1440p; you can change to 4K with one tap on the screen. It was grainy in low light when I zoomed in, but that is to be expected. 2in touchscreen• I read the specifications, but it's startling to see a multi-featured video camera that fits easily in the palm of my hand. Operation largely takes place through a combination of the two physical controls mode and shutter buttons and the touchscreen, although you can also use the Voice Control feature for most main tasks. Its sensor captures 10MP stills individually or in a 15fps burst, and it maintains the familiar Wide Dynamic Range WDR feature to help fill in shadows and retain highlights, the result being a better balanced exposure. Videos, time lapse videos and single photos transfer automatically; burst photos can be transferred manually. If you are wondering why buy the Black model or why not buy the White, these are the major differences: The HERO7 Black offers optional RAW format for still photos. Black is compatible with dive housing that allows it to be waterproof to 60 meters 197 feet rather than the 10 meters 33 feet on its own. Nobody cares or uses 1440p on this entire planet. It uses Hypersmooth image stabilization, which is supposed to be better than standard. The videos went into a "GoPro" folder that was created in my Pictures folder, but you can manually change the destination folder in Qwik's settings. The stabilisation system does a decent job to keep things steady as you move with the camera, although you do tend to see the occasional dropped frame and constantly alternating exposure. I don't think the ones in charge actually use a GoPro. This becomes more of an issue when using the Touch Zoom function, whereby the zoomed-in image is upsized to bring it up to 10MP. The GoPro Silver also takes 10MP still photographs, and it automatically employs its wide dynamic range WDR feature that pulls more detail out of shadows. Ship in refurbished-specific packaging. Using a 32GB micro SD card, you get 2 hours 8 minutes of video at regular resolution, 1 hour 5 min at 4K resolution. GoPro wants to you buy something to hold the camera: a Shorty, which is a telescoping poll and mini-tripod, or, if you will be using the camera around water, the Handler, which floats. Trying to find the battery duration information on their website was impossible. GoPro offers a downloadable product manual, but I found the best source of guidance to be YouTube videos about getting started with your GoPro. I found the stabilization to be pretty good. Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, YouTube stores all movies and videos as H. 2You must enable GPS on your camera to add GPS performance stickers to your videos in the GoPro app. When holding the camera with my left hand, my finger was often in the picture. Has a lot of great features wits waterproof. Swipe down from the top to access Preferences. Yes the photos and videos are great on the GoPro but they are also pretty good on my cheap camera. So far so good, I have it mounted on my center console on my boat. Either way you will be getting some awesome footage from this tough compact device. Inconvenient, as I was shooting long videos, but, at standard resolution 1440p , 4GB was 17:40 minutes. I got the silver for review and man was I stoked. One day I shot outdoors on a sunny, very contrasty, day with blown out highlights and deep shadows. where it has the rolling shutter for the 1440 mode. These are digital zooms, not optical zooms, so they are just crops. The camera also does better than expected in high contrast, although you do need to keep an eye on exposure and compensate for this where necessary. Video is super smooth and clear on the 1080p setting. I know its waterproof and it works well. I will be doing further tests and post my updates when I can. Swipe side to side to switch between video, still photo, and time lapse photo one frame every 0. 4Slo-mo is not available when recording in 4K. You can choose to add Speed Tracker a line graph , GPS Path, Speedometer, and G-Force to display over your video image. The GoPro will not operate without having its firmware updated, so you can't get past the screen where it prompts you to install and pair to the app. The camera isn't horrible in those conditions, but it's not great either. This isn't helpful if you are handholding and trying to videotape what you see. My GoPro 6 - I would say "Yeah that's a GoPro" but this version - "eh, it's a camera and it shoots video". This also makes such images and videos more suitable to integrate into Instagram Stories or on Snapchat, which you can do straight from the GoPro app that connects the camera to a smart device. The camera feels robust enough to withstand the odd knock or scrape, although you can also slip it inside its bracket for additional protection or for when you want to mount it somewhere. 7 is supposed to be better than 6 and previous. When shooting scenes with moderate or high contrast, the WDR feature does well to ensure that details are retained in both shadows and highlights. I have the version 6 and it's pretty amazing! The battery is internal, however, you can add whatever micro SD card you want to throw in there. The GoPro is fairly simple to operate. Then it said the camera could not be updated. So it makes sense that Silver and White alternatives should fill the void beneath this, with the former slipping above the White option but beneath the Black one. The controls are straight forward and easy to use. This can be changed in Preferences. Another tip: The default setting causes the screen to go dark in one minute to conserve power. The camera does reasonably well to maintain stability while it's moving, although it cannot quite iron out the general bumps and knocks when running with the camera or when moving across uneven terrain. This includes stabilised 4K video recording — albeit to 30p rather than 60p and without the impressive HyperSmooth system we saw on the Black version — and waterproofing down to 10m, together with a 2-inch touchscreen on the back and Voice Control that allows you to instruct the camera to perform almost all main functions without you raising a finger. I chose to use the Qwik app for Mac. It may well be a fine camera, but the fact that it costs the same as some DSLRs won't sit easily with everyone. Are backed by the same 1-year warranty 2-year warranty for EU customers as new GoPro cameras• Transfer rates may vary depending on your location. Voice control works reliably and can be activated with the touch of a button when you swipe down from the top of the screen. Or you can hit the power button on the right side of the camera to do this, which usually happens accidentally when I am trying to turn the camera off hold the button down to turn off. Why is GoPro charging premium prices over crap image sensors! Why GoPro didn't offer the same on this boggles my mind. Be sure that the camera is fully charged before you attempt to install an update. I was able to pair it with wifi without any hitches, but be sure your mobile device and your camera are on the same band. The camera itself is nice dont get me wrong and I'm still a fan of GoPro. It took about 30 minutes to download and install the firmware update. Familiar, streamlined design• The GoPro Silver offers two resolutions and aspect ratios for video: 4K video, which has a 16:9 aspect ratio 3840 x 2160 pixels at 30 frames per second fps and 1440p video, which has a 4:3 aspect ratio 1920x 1440 pixels at 60 fps. May have minor cosmetic flaws small scratches or nicks• Here, the resulting image is rotated once it's captured, and the UI also shifts to make it easier to capture either video or stills with the camera in a portrait orientation. I wondered if the problem might be the camera battery, so I charged it. This has a non removable non replaceable battery did not charge and it's new! There is also a self-timer, and you can activate voice control to tell the camera to take a picture without needing to have your finger on the shutter button. If you like, you can take photos continuously at rate of 4 per second by holding shutter button or 15 frames per second by choosing burst mode. The GoPro splits all video in to 4GB "chapters" due to limitations of the memory card's file system. GoPro hides a lot of the details about their GoPro cameras but boy do they boost all the awesome videos and stuff and make you think that all versions have either that quality or nearly that quality! You can view the videos in Qwik, or, you can double-click them in their folder to play in the video software of your choice. The difference between the stabilisation system here and the advanced HyperSmooth feature found inside the Black model is obvious, so if you know you'll be moving across bumpier land with any frequency you're better off saving your pennies for that model. To avoid this problem, you could leave the camera in its frame and hold it by its mounting buckle. The video I shot is much smoother than that taken with the video mode on my Nikon DSLR, which is mighty shaky. Why would they dumb down one of the best cameras on the market? I need to move around and between the buildings. Camera was a disappointment to say the least. 10MP images with Wide Dynamic Range WDR• You can also call upon Touch Zoom, whereby sliding your finger up and down the screen zooms into the scene for alternative framing. I am reviewing this camera as a GoPro novice: how the setup went, what the camera can do, how the Silver differs from Black and White models. Some countries limit use of the 5GHz spectrum which impacts transfer rates. I want to use it for my daily bike commute. Videos can also be slowed by a factor of two using the slow-mo option. I have never owned a GoPro before this HERO7 Silver, so I cannot comment on how it compares to previous models. The image sensor is that which one uses in cheap android cell phones. Guess I will be getting the hyper stabilization etc after all. You can watch stored videos from your camera or from the Cloud on the app, but the neat feature is that you can watch what the camera is seeing in real time if you are in range. 1Instagram app and account required. After I shot my videos, I wanted to view them. Get the Hero 6 or the 7 Black because this is embarrasingly a horrible product. Watching YouTube videos comparing the two, I think Hypersmooth is better for certain types of movement and not others. I already tested her down to about 40ft yeah I know and it did not have an issue with leaking. You would think a company like Go-Pro being in competition with the higher quality phones these days would be putting out a much better camera. 265 HEVC is the new video compression format that iPhone and others have adopted as native in which a 4gb video can be recorded same quality for 2gb or less. 3Touch zoom is available in all modes and settings, except 4K video and 4K time lapse video. The Silver model offers GoPro's standard image stabilization software. Must pass a thorough testing process before being certified by GoPro• Setup did not go smoothly for me. SloMo slows movement down by 8x in Black rather than 2x in the Silver. The camera is straightforward to use, although the touchscreen can sometimes be a little hesitant and requires a firm press or swipe here and there. I took it on vacation with me and just tried to snap a few pictures and it locked up on me at least 3 times. 4K video: up to 30fps 1440p video: up to 60fps 1080p video: up to 60fps Still images: 10MP JPEG only Rear screen: 2. I have not tried 4k as of now - I do not have a 4k compatible TV or computer. Slight bumps and movements from whatever the camera is mounted on are more apparent in the footage, although if you're travelling in or on something that's moving smoothly, the results are perfectly pleasing. Whomever was in charge of this product should be FIRED. I wasn't bouncing around very much, but I was walking, going up and down stairs, and occasionally running. So for all reading this camera does NOT have a removable battery. Are backed by the same 1-year warranty 2-year warranty for EU customers as new GoPro cameras• In the specifications, this camera also lists 1080p video as an option, but the camera actually records in 1440p 4:3 video that can then be cropped in the app to 1080p 16:9 video. I do not favor using the mobile app, as I don't have a lot of space on my phone. Incidentally, using this feature is the only way to capture images without most of the fisheye-esque distortion from the lens, which is great for expansive scenes but less so for anything with straight lines and edges. Let me just say that that I was worried that the silver which lacks the "Hypersmooth Stabilization" of the Black might be a disappointment, but compared to my older GoPro this thing creates amazingly stable footage and is good enough for just about anything I threw at it. It says it "supports 1080p by cropping the video to make it shorter". I am using this camera to videotape architecture, specifically the relationships between buildings, which don't show up well with a still camera. You will need to go to Settings and, under Media Folders, click "scan" in order to locate the files again. The Voice Commands also work well and simplify general operation, although it's a shame you can't turn the camera on this way though you can turn it off. If you want a removable battery get the black. Sound is awful, video is subpar at best, plus, you cannot change batteries, the battery is fixed so when it runs down, which in 4K is about 20 minutes your done. While the camera has done a reasonable job to balance the tricky exposure here, white balance is a little too cool Detail in 4K footage is very good, and artefacts are kept to a minimum, while motion is captured with a pleasing fluidity when the camera is relatively static. I have been wanting to get a Go-Pro for many years and so I purchased this Go-Pro 7 Silver. the touch screen menus on the back are also very easy to navigate. Works with QuikStories app The WDR feature has ensured that shadows in the foreground are maintained alongside highlights in the background Aside from its burst and timer settings, the Hero7 Silver only provides a few basic controls over image capture. That is a little uncomfortable. In terms of images, a 10MP sensor captures images with the help of Wide Dynamic Range technology, and bursts of images can be shot at up to 15fps. Battery and SD card slots are pretty much he same as the 6 and for the most part it is very much like the 6 but the image quality and sound are just so much better than the 6. I was a bit disappointed that I could not get a "normal" 50mm zoom, and a digital zoom is less than ideal. Voice Control, which started out on the Hero5 model, has also made the cut, and you can use this to start and stop capturing footage, or shoot bursts, add HiLights and so on. I will update review after a few weeks of playing with it. Sometimes you just want some added protection. Feature the same high quality standards as new GoPro cameras• I did the trade in and no where did it say I wouldn't get the card! 15fps burst shooting• Olympus TG Tracker Uncoventionally styled and fast approaching its second birthday, the TG Tracker is capable of 4K shooting to 30p and has a flip out LCD screen, along with 5-axis image stabilisation. Sound quality is also relatively clear and well balanced, without any obvious bias towards bass or treble. Why on Earth GoPro decided to make this camera only support 4K or 1440p? Black offers far more choices in frame rate, field of view, and resolution. Things I really liked are how much better the picture is than my Hero 6. All GoPro-certified refurbished cameras have passed a rigorous testing process and are covered by our standard 1-year warranty 2-year warranty for EU customers. It is cleaner with less grain and the audio is now really good. 5Your camera must be connected to the GoPro app for automatic transfer. The level of detail in images is reasonable for such a small sensor, although you probably wouldn't want to make any enlargements The WDR system kicks in where necessary, and you can see its attempts to better balance trickier scenes. You do need to keep an eye on overall exposure and balance this accordingly, but this is easily done. There are also three- and ten-second timers for selfies and group shots, together with the option to restrict video footage to 15 or 30 seconds to make it more shareable. Voice control worked but is not something I will be using very often. I had no luck getting it to pair with my camera using Bluetooth. Must pass a thorough testing process before being certified by GoPro• I cannot go on enough about how good it is for something so small. None of those things really interested me as I really love to use mine for snorkeling and tracking through the woods and parks. I had to call and ask them that. When I went though the setup on the camera again, it stopped on the page to install the app, but I was able to hit the back button and go to a page that allowed me to skip that step. There are two zooms available in 1440p mode you cannot zoom in 4K. Unless you are buying this Go-Pro to use underwater stop reading and spend the money on the Go-Pro 7 black. The GoPro 6 Silver has two modes - 4k and NOT 4k which is actually 1440. There is a lot of noise in the picture. Tip: If you rename your video files, Qwik will not recognize them. I installed it on my iPad, however. I can't get this camera to work consistently, it worked once or twice but then doesn't seem to sink to my iphone and requires me to type in the long wifi of the camera each time. I tried again without success. Image quality• Audio quality is very good, though, and the time-lapse option is not only fun but capable of perfectly pleasing results. Some tips that will be obvious to an experienced user but not to a novice: If you take the camera out of its frame and hold it with your hand, do so with your right hand. I plugged my camera into my computer via USB. The description does not tell you this. Qwik also allows you to make clips, rotate, grab a photo from video, or Adjust Gauges, which requires that you had the GPS data enabled on your video. Still images are 3648 x 2736 pixels with an aspect ratio of 4:3. It is amazing the amount of stuff you can do with this camera via your phone. This is where I feel GoPro and I are gonna part ways. HERO7 White does not offer 4K video or WDR for still photos, and does not have GPS capabilities, so no GPS stickers, etc. Now that I really got a chance to use it in real life this thing really sucks. Swipe up from the bottom to access the videos and photos that you have recorded. You can update the firmware through the mobile app, the Qwik desktop app, or you can download the update to a computer manually. Sony RX0 Not at all cheap but if you want an alternative to the more mainstream offerings the RX0 is well worth a look. Apparently the update had been installed before. The default on the camera is 5GHz. Feature the same high quality standards as new GoPro cameras• You do both of these things via the panel on the left side of the camera. This applies to the Silver and White models, not the Black model, which does support 1080p. The first things you need to do are: charge the camera and install a micro SD card from GoPro's list of recommended cards. The GoPro website states that every GoPro purchased through them receives a 32gb card. I can take higher quality pictures and videos with my IPhone 8 Plus. You are getting the equivalent, in 35mm film camera terms, of 15mm no zoom , 23mm mid-zoom , and 35mm full zoom. They will not be DSLR quality but then again this is made for action videos. 265 in order to save bandwidth and storage space on their end. Video quality is very good, with crisp details when shooting in 4K and good motion when the camera is static.。
